 A Continuation of the Emotional Intelligence Framework

A Faith in Emotionally Intelligent responses will tell us that a response something akin to the following is always appropriate to anyone's upset statement even if the upset statement is entirely inaccurate:

"I hear your frustration/anger/upset, would it help any to admit that I'm sure that's what we're all feeling to a large extent? I'd really like to work together to find some common ground, I'm pretty sure we could find some some if we try."

and of course we could go on to list many others here, as well.  We may just do that later, but until then...

We found that he Dignity Politics project advances a similarly powerful and related idea: that how we treat one another in public life matters just as much as the policies we debate. Rooted in the belief that every person has inherent worth, it offers practical tools and shared language for engaging political differences without contempt, dehumanization, or division. In agreement with ProGoldenRule they're convinced, as well, that the problem is not that we disagree, it's How We disagree that's causing the Division.

We reference and recommend this project because it is part of a longer-established, nationally recognized effort that has already reached leaders, educators, and communities across the country. Its depth of experience and tested framework make it a valuable resource for anyone seeking to improve the tone and substance of civic engagement.

This work closely reflects the spirit of the ProGoldenRule.  Rather than demanding agreement, Dignity Politics calls us to a higher standard of conduct — one that values dignity, accountability, and constructive problem-solving even in disagreement.
